Sir Fred Hoyle, the renowned atheist astronomer worked out the probability of the simple cell evolving from basic chemicals and concluded that it was impossible. The only alternative, acceptable to him, was that life had always existed. Life was transported across space on meteorites and it kick-started evolution after arriving on earth. Unfortunately, Hoyle’s theory also required his dis-proven “Steady State” theory, but no one disputes that we are here. If the universe had a beginning life had to have had a beginning. If abiogenesis was impossible what are the alternatives?
